Credit union for the ExxonMobil community relaunches as Nexus Mutual
EECU Limited, the credit union for ExxonMobil staff, long term contractors and their families will begin trading as Nexus Mutual from 31 January 2017.
The change is the result of a 12-month long brand review, driven by the organisation’s 5-year strategic plan to increase its relevance among members and potential members within the community.
Chief Executive Officer Ashley Hood said that while the EECU ‘brand’ has a strong history with members involved with Esso, it didn’t resonate with the broader membership base the credit union now serves.
“We will always respect and celebrate the connection that EECU has with Esso – it’s a bond that has helped us become the credit union we are today,” Mr Hood said.
“However, feedback over recent years told us that the strength of that connection was becoming a barrier for us to attract new members within the ExxonMobil community.
“We believe updating our brand is an investment that will help us better connect with our whole community and allow us to remain relevant to them now and in the future,” he said.
Members are assured that their banking account details including cards, cheque books and other access facilities, like Internet Banking and Apple Pay and Android Pay, will remain unchanged as a part of the rebrand.
Nexus Mutual has also launched an easy to navigate, state-of-the-art website, nexusmutual.com.au, which has been specifically designed with members’ needs in mind.
“While we have changed our name and the way we look, we are still the same organisation, with the same people, values, beliefs and reason for being,” Mr Hood said.
Nexus Mutual, a trading name of EECU Limited, remains 100% member owned, and exists solely to serve ExxonMobil employees, long term contractors and their families in Australia.
